1/19 “Seize The Moment” Hip Hop Voter Registration Drive
Posted by novoscene on January 19, 2008

With only one week before the registration deadline for the upcoming California Primary Election, Town Business Network-the Oakland grassroots political collective-is launching its “Seize the Moment” campaign to target hip hop generation voters and ensure that those between the ages of 17 ¾ and 35 years of age are registered by the January 21st deadline.
The collective kick-off its “Seize the Moment” voter registration drive and free concert today at 1:00 p.m., at Geoffrey’s Inner Circle in downtown Oakland. The event is free but you must be registered to vote.
While registering and learning about the various candidates, attendees will have the chance to rub shoulders with Bay Area hip hop, R&B, Spoken Word and Comedy performers and catch a free show from Ise Lyfe, Beeda Weeda, Kaz Kyzer, Prince Ali and others.
Charles Johnson, one of the event’s organizers, summed up the group’s intentions, “”We don’t want your money, we want your vote!” If you haven’t signed your name on the dotted line yet, today’s a great time to do the damned thing.
