Ofrendas Para los Muertos – from Oakland, with love
Curated by Rachel-Anne Palacios, this exhibit showcases mixed media pieces that aim to pay homage to “our dearly departed.”
Dia de los muertos is a momentous holiday in the Mexican culture. It has taken on new adaptations and transformations of its traditions over the years. We invite you to behold our offerings created in reverence of our ancestors.
The organizers invite you to bring a non-original photo of a departed loved one that you’d like to place on the community altar. You can also create flowers, puppets and masks made of paper to take home or place on the community altar.
November 16 – December 31, 2009
