IF IT’S NOT HERE, DON’T GO THERE

  • O-Scene: If it’s not here, don’t go there…

This is the Oakland blog for people living out loud. True to the Oakbook philosophy, we’ll tell you where to go, what to do, and what’s really going down in the town and around the Bay. From parties to films, peace protests to flag football, if there's a there there, we'll blog it.
  • Invite us to things. We’re great at parties.

If you've got events, photos, videos, announcements or general news on all the happenings in the Bay, send 'em over to us at oscene@theoakbook.com And don't be afraid to leave a comment. Don't be shy...come over and talk to us. You just might get lucky!

8/12 Beefy Cajun tunes

Posted by novoscene on August 11, 2008

Steeped in Louisiana and New Orleans zydeco and swamp blues, the Tri Tip Trio comes with a combined vision and well over a decade of experience. The three musical musketeers play classic zydeco, blues, and New Orleans funk as well as band originals. They also like to integrate cover tunes that were never originally zydeco songs into their sound. The group’s debut CD, “3 of a Kind,” is a tribute to “King of Zydeco” Clifton Chenier and includes a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Miss You” alongside original and traditional tunes.

Lloyd Meadows, Bruce Gordon and Tyler Eng are longtime Bay Area blues and zydeco veterans who’ve shared the stage for many years, performing in the Zydeco Flames, a band Meadows and Gordon co-founded in 1990.
