IF IT’S NOT HERE, DON’T GO THERE

  • O-Scene: If it’s not here, don’t go there…

This is the Oakland blog for people living out loud. True to the Oakbook philosophy, we’ll tell you where to go, what to do, and what’s really going down in the town and around the Bay. From parties to films, peace protests to flag football, if there's a there there, we'll blog it.
  • Invite us to things. We’re great at parties.

If you've got events, photos, videos, announcements or general news on all the happenings in the Bay, send 'em over to us at oscene@theoakbook.com And don't be afraid to leave a comment. Don't be shy...come over and talk to us. You just might get lucky!

9/4 Kick, push. Fund, raise

Posted by novoscene on September 4, 2008

Oakbook has been rooting for the new Town Park skate park in West Oakland for much of the last year.  The idea is to have a local skate park where local kids can kick flip and nose grind until they’re heart’s content without having to make the hike to Berkeley or irk drivers by getting their skate on in downtown traffic.

The Park is set to open towards the end of the year and tonight they’re holding a fundraiser at Air in Old Oakland to help seal the deal.  Come meet K-dub and the other organizers behind the new park, check out the skate demos and films from the Hood Games film festival and don’t forget to leave a little love in the collection plate.  These young cats rolling around in knee pads and helmets are our future y’know.-kwan
