• O-Scene: If it’s not here, don’t go there…

This is the Oakland blog for people living out loud. True to the Oakbook philosophy, we’ll tell you where to go, what to do, and what’s really going down in the town and around the Bay. From parties to films, peace protests to flag football, if there's a there there, we'll blog it.
  • Invite us to things. We’re great at parties.

If you've got events, photos, videos, announcements or general news on all the happenings in the Bay, send 'em over to us at oscene@theoakbook.com And don't be afraid to leave a comment. Don't be shy...come over and talk to us. You just might get lucky!

Art School Unrestricted

Posted by novoscene on September 16, 2008

School’s in over at the Richmond Art Center and today marks the beginning of the Fall session that runs from now through December 20th.  Don’t let the hipster image of art education stop you and never mind those butterflies in your stomach about not being cool enough for this particular school.  Regardless of your age, skill level or medium, whatever you’re itching to explore, chances are there’s a class to feed your inner fire.

While some classes kick off today most start at various times during the next 4 months and the program offers some free courses, scholarships and drop in rates if you’re just interested in popping in for a class or two without enrolling in the whole session.  Check out a sampling of the classes below then go to the Richmond Art Center’s website for more information.-kwan

-Sep 22: Wheel Throwing with Saadi Shapiro. Learn all aspects of wheel throwing from start to finish.

-Nov 7: Visiting Ceramic Artist and Lecture by Arthur Gonzalez. A talk and demo about the artist’s figurative creations of ceramic and found objects.

It looks like fun. I wish I lived closer because I would attend a class.
