Bay Area Halloween For all the Ghouls and Goblins

The spooky season is upon us and ghouls and goblins of all stripes will be roaming the streets all weekend. Here’s a list of some of our favorite events, from freaky all night bashes to haunted houses to scraper bikes to vampire lesbians, there’s something here for everyone. Grab a costume and go get scary!

Vampire Lesbians of Sodom

One of the longest running plays in Off-Broadway history, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom tells the saga of two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom. Their bitter rivalry as bloodsuckers but more importantly, as actresses, endures for two thousand years with stops along the way in 1920s silent movie Hollywood and contemporary Las Vegas.

3rd Annual Lobot Halloween Party

It’s time again for the annual Lobot Halloween Party and all the craziness, costumes and candy filled pumpkins this art space has become known for-even when it’s not all Hallow’s Eve! Come check a rotating cast of local musical rabble rousers including members of Rogue Wave, the Heavenly States, Golden Gram, The Tea Set, Somehow At Sea, The San Antonio Kid, Moot, and The Jen Weisberg Experience as they pay tribute to The Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash & June Carter, and Neutral Milk Hotel, (including a full performance of the Hotel’s “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” album. DJs Golden and Don’t Tell Yr Mom will be rockin’ the grey leather jamz and of course there’ll be plenty of games prizes and spooks to last the whole night long.

2nd Annual Scraper Bike Halloween Bike Ride

Bring your scraper bike or trick your two wheeler out for the night in it’s own Halloween costume, pack up a bag of goodies and meet up at the Mac Dre Mural on High St. to join the Scraper Bike Movement for a night of trick or treating Oaktown style. The Thirteenth Annual Festival of the Bones

The Festival of the Bones honors the contributions of our collective ancestry and celebrates the beauty of life. Representatives from African, Native American, Hawaiian, and Middle Eastern traditions will share their stories, songs, and dances. This Festival is interactive village theatre. Participants will experience transformative acts such as invoking the spirits of their ancestors, telling their stories, and placing them on the Tree of Life. There will be food for sale as well as a vendors’ market.
