As a producer, Lars has created diverse tracks which comfortably ride the line of house and techno, and has produced tracks with DJ’s ranging from Danny Howells to Sven Vath. As a DJ, he’s been described by house music producer Jimpster as a “proper DJ who can take things in any direction…from the deepest of house to the funkiest of techno”. Thanksgiving Dodgeball Tournament

Stuff your face in the afternoon then bust some balls at night. Dodgeballs of course. For those with enough willpower to drag their well fed keisters off the couch after holiday grubbin’, there’ll be a whole mess of plastic ball wielding maniacs ready to get their Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn on all over Delores Park. We ain’t got snowball fights in the Bay, but this is almost as good.

“God’s Son” Nasir Jones has been on the top of game in 2008. With the success and controversy surrounding his ultimately untitled latest album, beefs with conservative pundits like Bill O’ Reilly and successful tours including a command performance at this year’s Rock the Bells, the Queensbridge MC has been showing naysayers why he’s still considered one of the greatest to ever pick up a mic. Catch him on a victory lap tour of the Bay with Oakland girl Goapele.

We’re sending some love tonight to DJs Zita & Dmadness, whose house was burglarized recently. All their DJ equipment, laptop, some jewelry and other personal belongings were stolen. If you’ve ever danced to their beats and want to do your bit to help them, head over to Levende Lounge in San Francisco tonight. All proceeds from the old school hip hop and R & B night will go to helping them get back on their feet. The line-up includes, along with DMadness & DJ Zita, VINROC (triplethreat djs/5th platoon), DJ PLATURN (oakland faders), MR. E (papalote hifi), SHRED ONE (brooklyn circus) and DJ MPENZI.

Fuck Canvas Art Show

Canvas? These artists don’t need no stinkin canvas! Art collective “Everybody Get Up” has made it it’s mission to make art for the masses, that the masses can actually afford. By getting rid of those pesky, expensive ass canvases, the artists in the show-including Terms, Deadeyes, Nobody, Somebody n’ Anybody, and 2AM-are bringing the prices down in the hopes you’ll bring the art home. A huge collection of street art, graffiti and found object art will be on sale with nothing priced over $100. At their last show the art went fast so get there early for the best deals.

Yancie Taylor Jazztet

Yancie Taylor, a genuine local treasure and acclaimed vibes player, has earned critical acclaim by bringing his special panache to the international jazz scene. Bold, subtle, and versatile, he has earned his loyal following, people who greatly appreciate his ever changing performances. Influenced at an early age by the “straight” jazz piano style of Les McCann and Ramsey Lewis, Yancie was caught by the sweet tones of the vibraphone during the Latin “craze” of the 1960s. He attributes his deepest influence to the masters: Milt Jackson, Bobby Hutcherson, and Cal Tjader.

Richmond Mural Dedication

For the past several years, the Community Rejuvenation Project has been blessing Oakland with numerous cultural murals throughout the city. Now the Richmond Arts and Culture Commission (RACC) has invited the muralists to paint a new piece in the city’s downtown neighborhood. The results? The first mural to acknowledge Richmond’s contribution to the Bay Area dance style: Robotin’. Founders of the dance style that was Richmond’s precursor to break dancing will be on hand to demonstrate their moves and celebrate the mural.
