12/10-12/13 Hot Cats and Drunken Brothers

Posted by novoscene on December 9, 2008

Y’know, reading “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ” in high school I totally missed how down right Movie of The Week/soap opera-ish Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning play was.

Drama! Drinking! Life and death secrets! Latent homesexual urges! Scorned lovers! Then more drama and drinking! It’s a good thing it’s Skyline High’s Advanced drama students that’ll be taking on the play. This stuff could be too sizzly for the kiddies.

For the next 3 days, the mature-beyond-there-years-I’m-sure cast of young actors will stage a production of the play, delving into the pysches of this uber disfunctional southern family. Will down and out son Brick quit drinking? Will he ever touch his lovin’ starved wife again? Will his millionaire father die and leave him control over the family fortune. Will Brick’s brother ever forgive him for being daddy’s favorite? Is Brick (gasp) Gay? Find out the answers to these and more edge of your seat questions on the next “As The World Turns.” Or just go see the play.
