2/11 Town Bizness

Posted by novoscene on February 11, 2009

Almost a month and a half after Oscar Grant was killed, tensions in the area are still running hot.  Since January there have been protests, organizing meetings and strategy sessions on how to mobilze community members and make sure their voices are heard.  The last community town hall at the Black Dot was so packed people were lined up outside so early arrival is suggested.
Some of the speakers for tonights event include: Jack Bryson, the father of two sons who were with Oscar Grant when he was murdered by police, on New Years Day, Martina Davis – sister of Georgia deathrow inmate Troy Anthony Davis, POCC’s Chairman Fred Hampton Jr-a former political prisoner of 9 years and son of Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, Randy Murphy-an Oakland man who was paralyzed by the OPD and  Min. Keith Muhammad of the Nation of Islam.
