2/24 Hey! It’s Fat Tuesday! Where we drinkin’?!

Posted by novoscene on February 24, 2009

In the midst of all the running around it somehow slipped my mind that today was Fat Tuesday, WTF was I thinking? Who knows.  The important question, good people, is-where are we drinking?

Here’s a quick roundup of promising  options. Now who’s got the 1st round?

East Meets West Mardi Gras at Ozumo

Live drummers, samba dancers, special Brazillian drinks and a New Orleans shakedown sounds courtesy of DJ Gray.
2251 Broadway Ave, Oakland

Mardi Gras with the Mark St. Mary Louisiana Blues & Zydeco Band

Come get your Mardi Gras on with the ol’ school masters, voted best zydeco band of 2007 by the Bay Area Blues Society. Cajun/Zydeco dance lesson at 8
Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center
1317 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley

PST feat. Waajeed & Jennifer Johns

Who knows if this is an official Fat Tuesday party, but it’s Wajeed, so it really doesn’t matter. Catch a special set by Platinum Pied Pipers stalwart and J-Dilla prodigy. Plus Oakland’s Jennifer johns opens. Nu soul and beats for that ass.
330 Ritch
330 Ritch St., San Francisco

Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club

Nobody parties like a Gomorran. Seriously. This band of hobo, Motown vaudeville freaks have a habit of burning up a dancefloor then burning down the house. And Damon and the Heathens is opening? Better get here before the cops do.
The Make Out Room
3225 22nd St., San Francisco

Fat Tuesday w/ Bayonics

The Bayonics crew are bringing the latin hip hop and breaking out the breaking out the Samba dance ensembles Loco Bloco, Bomberas De La Bahia and Sambamora.
Yoshi’s San Francisco
1330 Fillmore st. San Francisco

San Francisco Mardi Gras Ball

Extra Action Marching Band, Brass Mafia. Plastic Beads. Alcohol. By themselves, the makings of a cool night. All together? The reason why you’re gonna call into work tomorrow.
The Independent
628 Divisadero St., San Francisco
