• O-Scene: If it’s not here, don’t go there…

This is the Oakland blog for people living out loud. True to the Oakbook philosophy, we’ll tell you where to go, what to do, and what’s really going down in the town and around the Bay. From parties to films, peace protests to flag football, if there's a there there, we'll blog it.
  • Invite us to things. We’re great at parties.

If you've got events, photos, videos, announcements or general news on all the happenings in the Bay, send 'em over to us at oscene@theoakbook.com And don't be afraid to leave a comment. Don't be shy...come over and talk to us. You just might get lucky!

4/2 Passover can be a laughing matter

Posted by novoscene on April 2, 2009

Pop over to La Pena tonight to hear  hilarious  “real-life stories of contemporary liberation” from local social justice activists including Heather Gold, creator of the show “I Look Like an Egg, But I Identify as a Cookie”  and Amelia Mae Paradise, founder of the queer burlesque company Diamond Daggers.  The soul bearing, self depricating  standup is followed by a knock down drag out Kugel Throwdown.  Bring your bubbe’s best pre-Passover treats and get down while Klezmer rockers (yeah, really) Kugelplex and DJ Jason D bring the tunes.

“Not-A-Seder: Passover Cabaret of Laughter and Liberation”
