This is the Oakland blog for people living out loud. True to the Oakbook philosophy, we’ll tell you where to go, what to do, and what’s really going down in the town and around the Bay. From parties to films, peace protests to flag football, if there's a there there, we'll blog it.
  • Invite us to things. We’re great at parties.

If you've got events, photos, videos, announcements or general news on all the happenings in the Bay, send 'em over to us at oscene@theoakbook.com And don't be afraid to leave a comment. Don't be shy...come over and talk to us. You just might get lucky!

Remember the scary shark from the seventies? It’s back… along with music, food, Oakland trivia and lots of fun.

Beat the weather, pick up your blanket and come out tonight to Jack London Square for a free screening of Steven Spielberg’s shark-reputation-killer. There will be music, popcorn, and a big screen.

And there will be prizes. For those who know their Oakland trivia. A big thank you to all those who sent in questions. You’ll hear them in the OakBook Oakland Trivia quiz tonight. The rest of you: Brush up on your Oakland I.Q. and come and play to win tonight.

WHAT: Movie night – JAWS
WHERE: Jack London Square, in the new plaza near Heinold’s First and Last Chance Saloon (In the square, near the waterfront).
WHEN: The fun starts at 7.30. p.m. movie starts at 8 p.m.

Party like it’s Thursday night. In case you haven’t heard, Thursday is the new Friday..

Another cold night on the bay, but with warm fuzzies on and cuddled up with friends and families and doggies too, it was a fun way to see that mean old shark eat it’s way through the population of Amity once again.
We picked up a Zachary’s pizza on the way, but there is food available at the site, plus all of the great restaurants on the square to choose from. We’ll be going back again. I want to see Splash. You should go too…
