O-Scene

IF IT’S NOT HERE, DON’T GO THERE

  • O-Scene: If it’s not here, don’t go there…

This is the Oakland blog for people living out loud. True to the Oakbook philosophy, we’ll tell you where to go, what to do, and what’s really going down in the town and around the Bay. From parties to films, peace protests to flag football, if there's a there there, we'll blog it.
  • Invite us to things. We’re great at parties.

If you've got events, photos, videos, announcements or general news on all the happenings in the Bay, send 'em over to us at oscene@theoakbook.com And don't be afraid to leave a comment. Don't be shy...come over and talk to us. You just might get lucky!

Ratatouille

It’s cold outside, but you can trust a movie like Ratatouille to warm you up from the inside. Take that blanket and head over to the Parkway Theater. No, it isn’t a Parkway Revival party. But Parkway supporters and the Lake Merritt Business Association, along with a lot of other people, are hosting a screening of Ratatouille tonight. And in keeping with the theme of the movie, there will be food. But it’s all potluck-style, and the hosts request that you bring something if you’d like to eat.

Stacey Pullen

To be blunt Stacey Pullen kills every sound system he comes across. Hailed as one of the saviors of Detroit’s techno scene, the DJ is a prodigy of the D’s tech godfather Derrick May and has been laying down banging blends of tech, house and electro for the over a decade. And while he’s not the young gun “it” DJ he once was, if there’s an ounce of groove in your body, believe that Pullen’s gonna pull it out. Free before 12 with an email to events@back2basics-sf.com.
