Bill Frisell’s Residency at Yoshi’s
Popular guitarist, composer and bandleader Bill Frisell has taken up residency at Yoshi’s Oakland, April 8 through 11. Joining Frisell are some familiar collaborators – Kenny Wollesen, Greg Leisz, Jenny Scheinman, Tony Scherr — as well as some new ones – Marc Ribot and Jason Moran.
According to the New York Times – It’s hard to find a more fruitful meditation on American music than in the compositions of guitarist Bill Frisell. Mixing rock and country with jazz and blues, he’s found what connects them: improvisation and a sense of play. Unlike other pastichists, who tend to duck passion, Mr. Frisell plays up the pleasure in the music and also takes on another often-avoided subject, tenderness.

Thursday, Friday & Saturday 8 p.m. & 10 p.m. shows $32, Sunday 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. shows $32
